Celebrating the King’s Birthday Honours
Congratulations to our alumni, supporters and colleagues recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours.
Amongst the names announced in the inaugural list are RNCM Fellow Richard Mantle, General Director of Opera North, who received a knighthood for services to opera; alumni Douglas Scarfe, CEO Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and Gordon Stewart, organist, teacher and conductor, who were awarded the CBE and BEM respectively; and supporter Chris Oglesby, CEO of Bruntwood, who was awarded an OBE.
We’d also like to extend our congratulations to colleagues across the industry, including Kathryn McDowell, Managing Director of London Symphony Orchestra, who received a damehood; Peter Lawson, Chair of Scottish Opera, who received a CBE; Helen Marshall, Vice-Chancellor and CEO of the University of Salford, who was awarded an OBE; Philip Castang, Chair of UK Music Education Council, who received an MBE; and Kathleen Evans, Chair of Leeds Lieder, who was awarded a BEM.
