Eva Warren: 1930 – 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Eva Warren (ARCM, ARNCM) on May 11 at the age of 82. Eva joined the Royal Manchester College of Music (RMCM) piano department as an accompanist in 1960 and left during the 1980s. Since then she has enjoyed teaching, accompanying and performing on the Wirral and across the UK.

Born in Manchester, she moved to Rock Ferry as a child, where she lived for the rest of her life. Eva developed a love of music from a young age and secured a scholarship at the then Royal Manchester, now Royal Northern College of Music, where she taught until the mid-1980s.  In her long career, she was involved with numerous groups including the Birkenhead Choral Society, Wirral Festival company, Music in Chester and the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

There were more than 300 people packed into St Peter’s Church, Rock Ferry, to pay their respects to Eva with even more people queuing outside.

She was a very special lady, filled with so much compassion and a great love for the piano and (for those who knew her) her cats.

‘Everyone has to be sensitive because without sensitivity you cannot have creativity’ – Eva.
