Mezzo joins Vienna State Opera Young Artist Programme
Congratulations to postgraduate mezzo-soprano Stephanie Maitland, one of 10 singers selected for the Vienna State Opera Young Artist Programme.
Stephanie, who’s working towards a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Studies with Jane Irwin, is the only UK singer chosen for the 2020/21 programme, established to support young singers on the verge of international careers.
Over 1000 applications were received from singers worldwide, with the final 10 set to receive advanced musical and theatrical training in addition to performance opportunities at the prestigious Austrian opera house.
Since joining the RNCM, where she has already completed an MMus degree, Stephanie has performed the roles of Mercedes in Bizet’s Carmen in 40 minutes, The Sandman in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel (pictured), Flora in a concert performance of Verdi’s La Traviata, La Principessa and Zita in Puccini’s Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi, Madam By-Ends in Vaughan William’s The Pilgrim’s Progress and La Prieure in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites.
