Nemtsov Duo Wins International Award
RNCM cellist Mikhail Nemtsov and his sister, pianist Elena Nemtsova, won First Prize in the Swedish International Duo Competition last month.
Forty duos from over 20 countries took part in the competition, which consisted of a preliminary round, semi-final and final.
Speaking of the win, Mikhail (pictured above) said: ‘We were delighted to have won First Prize in such a tough contest. Elena and I have been playing since we were kids and that gave us an advantage over many other good ensembles.’
Mikhail and Elena can be heard on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune on Tuesday 11 September from 4.30pm, and will be performing at Wigmore Hall on Thursday 13 September.
