RNCM alumni at the BBC Proms

With live music making a welcome return, we’re proud to see so many RNCM alumni in this year’s BBC Proms line-up.

Soprano and RNCM Fellow, Elizabeth Llewellyn (below) opens the First Night on 30 July with a concert alongside the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor Dalia Stasevska.

South African cellist Abel Selaocoe, an Associate of the RNCM who graduated in 2018, will take to the stage on 15 August with Africa Meets Europe, a boundary-crossing concert showcasing his unique brand of musical fusion.

Move forward one day and mezzo-soprano Christine Rice joins Ben Glassberg, the BBC Philharmonic and a host of other British opera stars for an evening of opera excerpts on themes of separation and reconciliation.

Lots of RNCM alumni make up the incredible Manchester Collective ensemble (above). They’ll be making their Proms début on 17 August while soprano Samantha Clarke makes her first appearance three days later, joining the Britten Sinfonia and National Youth Chamber Choir for Mozart’s Requiem in the first Mystery Prom of the season.

And there’s representation for our composers too as Daniel Kidane, Associate of the RNCM, and Grace Evangeline Mason both present world premières, Daniel during the Family Prom on 29 August and Grace Evangeline during the RLPO’s concert on 5 September.
