RNCM composer selected to receive RPS Prize
Congratulations to Grace Evangeline Mason, one of seven young composers selected to receive an RPS Composition Prize.
Now in its 70th year, the award provides support and a rare commission to composers at a formative stage in their development. For 2018, the seven composers, all aged under 28, will write new works for leading ensembles and festivals across the UK.
Grace, who has just finished her fourth year at the College, joins a list of RNCM composers to benefit from the scheme, including Alison Cox OBE (the first College composition student to achieve the award in 1981), Mark Simpson and Daniel Kidane. She will now write a chamber work for next year’s Cheltenham Music Festival.
