RNCM composers shortlisted for Ivors

Congratulations to Larry Goves, Emily Howard, Simon Knighton and Athanasia Kontou, who are amongst the 34 names shortlisted for the 2023 Ivors Classical Awards.

Formally The Ivors Composers Awards, the newly re-launched Ivors Classical celebrate creative excellence in composition for contemporary classical and sound art. In a change to previous years, Irish as well as British composers are eligible for consideration.

Larry, who was recently appointed Head of Composition, appears in the Small Chamber Composition category with Crow Rotations; Emily, a Professor in Composition and Director of PRiSM, is competing for the Large Orchestral Composition prize with Elliptics alongside Sound Sculpture No 7 by PhD research Simon Knighton; while recent graduate Athanasia is up for Large Chamber Ensemble Composition with Antigone: Pure in her Crime.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at BFI Southbank in London on 14 November.
