RNCM Head of Operations awarded MBE in New Year’s Honours

Congratulations to Neil Bohanna, Head of Operations, on being awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours for services to higher education.

Neil joined the College in 2009 as Head of Estates, becoming Head of Operations in 2015. Over the past eight years he has overseen the refurbishment of the Carole Nash Recital Room, the RNCM Concert Hall and backstage facilities, the creation of Studio 1 (the world’s largest BOXY modular studio system, home to the BMus Popular Music programme) and, more recently, the drafting of the College’s masterplan, which maps potential future options for the RNCM estate.

He said: ‘I feel humbled to have been nominated for such an award. I am incredibly fortunate to work alongside dedicated fellow colleagues who have a shared passion to provide world class facilities that enable and support students in Manchester’s international music conservatoire.’

Professor Linda Merrick, Principal added: ‘The RNCM is extremely fortunate to have such an outstanding Head of Operations in Neil and I am absolutely delighted that his contribution to the College and to the wider higher education sector has been recognised in this way.’
