RNCM Partner Launches Free Music App

Buffet Group, the world’s leading wind instrument manufacturer which supports exceptional RNCM and JRNCM wind and brass students, recently launched the first app for wind instruments.

Premiering in Paris at the end of 2014, Urban Play is a fun and educational free app that gives musicians who want to learn a wind instrument the chance to play along to urban flavoured music by top Buffet Group artists. Taking a break from the classical repertoire, users can choose from 12 wind instruments and four difficulty levels, before practising their skills and techniques to modern tracks in a variety of styles, including funk, hip hop and street jazz. The end result can then be shared with family, friends and fellow musicians.

A Buffet Group spokesperson said: ‘This is just the beginning for Buffet Group smartphone and tablet apps.

‘As Urban Play grows to offer more and more features, we’ll also be expanding towards other styles of music, developing new sections with the same quality audio recorded by artists who play our instruments, and help players become more advanced and diverse musicians.’

The RNCM has enjoyed a strong partnership with Buffet Group for over four years. The company, which incorporates brands such as Besson and Antoine Courtois, provides yearly scholarships to talented young musicians as well as enabling Visiting Tutors and Buffet Group artists to come and teach students through inspiring lessons and masterclasses.
