RNCM Principal added to influential Power List

Professor Linda Merrick, RNCM Principal, has been placed on Northern Power Women’s Power List for 2018.

Northern Power Women was established to transform the culture of organisations to increase opportunities for women and showcase role models and best practice for those helping to drive and lead economic growth.

It aims to harness all talent, accelerate gender pay equality and provide people with the knowledge and skills needed to drive careers forward, all against the backdrop of the Northern Powerhouse agenda. Engaging women and men from all industries and business areas as ‘agents of change’, Northern Power Women connects, collaborates and celebrates their achievements as campaign champions and advocates to drive gender balance from the north of England.

The 2018 Power List was announced at the third annual awards ceremony last night (6 March). Compiled through a process of open nomination and selected by a panel of judges, it recognises leaders and change agents who are making a significant difference and continue to have an impact.

Tweeting after the ceremony, Linda said she was ‘very pleased to have been added to the Northern Power Women ‘Power List’…An opportunity to celebrate equality, diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and the wider music industry.’

Linda joined the RNCM in 2001 as Director of Performance Studies and Senior Tutor in Clarinet before becoming Vice-Principal in 2006, Acting Principal in 2012, and Principal in 2013. Chair of Conservatoires UK, she is a member of numerous professional bodies within the Arts and Higher Education sectors, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Royal Society of Arts.
