RNCM Saxophonist Performs at Leading Cultural Event
Second year saxophonist Caitlin Laing was one of the main performers at Creative Industries Federation’s second anniversary celebration on Monday 9 January.
Held at the new Design Museum in London, the special event – highlighting the success of the UK’s arts, creative industries and cultural education – included key note speeches and addresses from Greg Clark, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Karen Bradley, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Fiona Hyslop, Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affairs in the Scottish Government and Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London.
Professor Linda Merrick, RNCM Principal, said: ‘I am thrilled that saxophonist Caitlin Laing was offered the opportunity to represent the RNCM at last night’s anniversary celebration.
‘CIF provides a leading voice for arts and culture across the UK and it is wonderful to know that, together with musicians from the RSC, we were able to showcase the incredible talent of our young musicians and fly the flag for UK conservatoire education.’
Founded by Sir John Sorrell, the Creative Industries Federation is the national membership organisation bringing together all of the UK’s arts, creative industries and cultural education to provide an authoritative and united voice in a way never done before. Learn more here.
