RNCM Singers at the Arran Summer School
Over 10 RNCM students and alumni took part in the 2013 Arran Summer School, participating in singing lessons, coaching sessions and masterclasses with an established team of music staff including Peter Alexander Wilson, Patricia MacMahon, John Fisher, Linda Ormiston and Alexander Crowe.
Sopranos Katie Connor, Jessica Gillingwater, Joanna Norman and Amy Webber, mezzos Emma Stannard and Katie Hainbach, baritone Graham McCusker, and tenors Timothy Langston, Chase Henry Hopkins, and Dominic Stewart all took part in the annual Summer School alongside pianists Daniel Browell, Ewan Gilford and James Hendry.
Established four years ago by RNCM Senior Tutor in Vocal Studies, Peter Alexander Wilson, the School caters for 12 singers who each receive four singing lessons in addition to several hours one-to-one coaching, lessons in stagecraft and dramatic presentation skills and a masterclass with John Fisher, the RNCM’s International Visiting Tutor in Vocal Studies.
Each year the singers perform in an Opera Gala and take the solos in an Oratorio. This year the singers provided the soloists and augmented the McLellen Festival Chorus for a performance of Mendelssohn’s Elijah as part of the McLellen Arts Festival alongside award-winning baritone and alumnus of the National Opera Studio, Gavan Ring.
