RNCM Students to Join Tim Burgess on Stage
Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess is performing at the RNCM on Friday 22 February, and he’s announced that the College’s Cassia String Quartet will be joining him on stage.
The Quartet, comprising students Amy Welch, Tory Clarke, Laurie Dempsey and Joshua Lynch, are set to perform string arrangements by composer Joe Duddell, who, in 2011, invited 11 RNCM students to perform on Ghosts of Gone Birds; a collaboration he did with Doves’ Jimi Goodwin. Joe has also worked with artists such as Nero and James, and conducted Elbow and the Hallé during the 2009 Manchester International Festival.
Tim Burgess’ appearance at the RNCM is part of his 2012/13 tour to promote his latest critically acclaimed solo album, Oh No I Love You. He performs with Charlatans’ Mark Collins (guitar), Primal Scream’s Martin Duffy (keyboards), Toby Kidd (bass), Finn Kidd (drums) and Hatcham Social’s David Claxton (guitar).
Hatcham Social will also be supporting for all dates of the tour.
