ROSL Award for Zelkova
The Zelkova Quartet has received the Elias Fawcett Award after being recognised as the most outstanding chamber ensemble in this year’s Royal Over-Seas League ARTS competition.
Violinists Caroline Pether and Simran Singh, violist Rhiannon James, and cellist Jonathan Pether competed in the Ensemble A Category final with fellow RNCM students and eventual winners the Solem Quartet last month. Alongside the award, they now have the opportunity to perform at Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre, during the ROSL Annual Music Competition finals on Tuesday 6 May.
Talking on behalf of the Quartet, which is completing an RNCM International Artist Diploma in Chamber Music, Caroline said: ‘We were over the moon for our good friends the Solem Quartet when they won the Ensemble Category last month, but it was nice to know that our performance was recognised too. We were very happy with how we played on the night and were glad to be reassured that those listening enjoyed it as well! We are very much looking forward to receiving our award and supporting Solem in the final concert in May.’
