Students perform with Netherlands Wind Ensemble
Students Emma McPhilemy (saxophone), Grace Scott-Deuchar (oboe) and Holly Redshaw (bassoon) performed with the Netherlands Wind Ensemble for their New Year’s concerts at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
The opportunity arose due to the RNCM’s partnership with the ensemble, which enables students to learn from and perform with professional musicians.
The Ensemble’s New Year’s concerts are described as a ‘surprising musical party’ with unexpected guests from all over the world, extraordinary stories and new compositions from young composers. Concerts took place on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, with a TV broadcast on 1 January.
Rob Buckland, Deputy Head of Chamber Music (Wind, Brass and Percussion), said: ‘I know that the students had a fantastic time and gained a huge amount from being part of the whole project, from first rehearsals to putting the final production together for TV. They were also warmly welcomed into the group by all NBE and have made many new friends.’
