Jennifer Langridge lives in Manchester, she studied at the Royal Northern College of Music where she was awarded the Barbirolli Prize for Cello. She went on to become a Junior Fellow of the RNCM as part of the Nossek String Quartet.

Jen is the cellist of the Victoria String Quartet; she is also Principal cello of Northern Chamber Orchestra and Manchester Concert Orchestra.

For 30 years, until 2023, Jennifer was principal cello of Psappha Ensemble. Psappha performed regularly on BBC Radio 3, made many CD recordings and has a YouTube channel of more than 300 films of live concerts. Jen often performed as a soloist with Psappha, most notably at the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms in 2004, playing Maxwell Davies, ‘Linguae Ignis’ for solo cello and ensemble.

In 2018, Jen formed the Victoria String Quartet with colleagues from RNCM staff, this year they have performed and recorded in venues such as The Stoller Hall and the Bridgewater Hall.  She was a member of the BBC Philharmonic for 10 years until 2018 and has worked as guest Principal for orchestras such as Royal Northern Sinfonia, Opera North and Manchester Camerata.

Jen is a highly experienced and dedicated teacher; she has special interests in the psychology behind performance, including how to handle adrenaline and also in effective practice techniques. Alongside her teaching at the Royal Northern College of Music, she also teaches at Chetham’s School of Music. Jen is also a chamber music coach at the RNCM.
