‘- Ordering, receiving and invoicing new music, books and other materials on the library system
– Liaising with students and staff concerning the acquisition of new materials
– General duties such as staffing the library counter and answering general enquiries
The library openly encourages students to request new music or books they want to explore while studying at college, which may be a little more obscure or in less standard editions. We obtain materials from a huge variety of sources all over the world which presents many interesting challenges! The purchased materials are made available to the requester first of all but then enter library stock for others to use. Staff members also approach us for many materials relating to their research.
I work closely with the Deputy Librarian to manage all Library acquisitions, and can be found in the library on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
I obtained my English Literature degree from Leicester University and my Librarianship qualification from Manchester Polytechnic. Subsequently I have worked in libraries at Exeter University, Manchester Metropolitan University and Building Design Partnership. I play the piano for pleasure and in my local church. I joined the RNCM Library in 2005.
