Sam is a professional double/electric bassist, producer, educator and creative practitioner residing in Manchester, UK. After graduating from Leeds College Of Music in 2009 with a Ba (Hons) in Jazz studies he has gone on to perform, record and tour internationally with numerous artists. These include:
The Cinematic Orchestra (Ninja Tune), Hunrosa (Wahwah45’s) – Composer/producer, Kandace Springs (Blue Note records), Manu Delago (One little Indian Records)
The Breath (Realworld Records), Stuart McCallum (Edition records), Dominic J Marshall (Paxico), The Mouse Outfit, London Contemporary Voices and Gotts Street Park.
Some notable performances include, The Walt Disney Hall (LA), The Royal Albert Hall, Philharmonie de Paris and The Royal Festival Hall. Sam has performed on multiple television and radio broadcasts including Glastonbury Festival, KCRW, Later with Jools Holland and BBC6 Music (Gilles Peterson). Sam is currently endorsed by Aguilar Amplification, Darkglass Engineering, 3 Leaf Audio and Lehle switches.
Sam has studied music production with various mentors including Cherif Hashizume (Jon Hopkins/Brian Eno) and most recently studied ambisonics with Dr. Matt Barnard (Hull University). Sam has extensive experience using Ableton Live and is an affiliated artist. He has programmed a number of live shows including The Cinematic Orchestra world tour (2019).
