‘She is a genuine original…’
(The Guardian)

RNCM alumna Alice Zawadzki returns to the College for this unique collaboration with an ensemble of our students plus her own band. Performing special arrangements of tracks from Alice’s new album, Within You is a World of Spring, this show will come off the back of four days of workshopping with RNCM players.

Some of the music has been directly influenced by Alice’s experiences of working in the so called ‘Jungle’ refugee camp in Calais and other compositions are shaped by friends who are in relationships divided by visa issues.

We asked Alice about the title of the album and she explained: ‘the purpose is to make a journey of cultivating feelings of resolve, processing and transforming pain, and ultimately finding the strength, celebration, lightness or ‘springtime’ that lies within, even during darker and wintry times…’ So it should be a very personal and emotional journey for both the musicians and the audience alike.

This project is part of Giant Steps, a scheme supported by Help Musicians UK, Serious Trust and Arts Council England.
