Part of RNCM Saxophone Day.

Following the release of their album Two Seasons in October 2025, John Butcher and Angharad Davies push the boundaries of their collaboration, unleashing their formidable improvisatory prowess. Having crossed musical paths since the early 2000s, the two share a palpable synergy: approaching music from distinct perspectives and combining their talents with remarkable precision.

Extended techniques and silence are given equal weight in performances, and their musical exchanges are shaped by a deep mutual understanding. Here, a single gesture can redirect the course of an entire passage giving rise to moments of exquisite musical invention – a testament to years of listening, responding, and creating alongside one another.
