About

Experience Steve Reich’s minimalist masterpiece performed by the virtuoso players of Paraorchestra.

Music for 18 Musicians was a revelation for orchestral music when it premiered 50 years ago: its thrumming, transcendental soundscape made Steve Reich a household name and propelled minimalism into the mainstream consciousness.

Its influence has reverberated through generations and a myriad of different genres, inspiring artists from David Bowie to Aphex Twin to Björk.

As Reich celebrates his 90th birthday this year, Paraorchestra present a mind-and-body, head-and-heart rendition of the composer’s seminal piece in the RNCM Concert Hall. Slip into its sublime shifting phases and embark on a sonic journey through pulsing marimbas, pianos, and vocals.
