It’s that time of the year when there is no escape from festive piped muzak and the joys of said Christmas songs can wear a bit thin if you’re not careful…
However, our RNCM Big Band will attempt to remedy this when they take a big bag of Christmas classics of all shapes and sizes and turn them on their heads!
These tunes are definitely familiar – from the sombre sobriety of the Coventry Carol, to the cheeriness of Let it Snow, to the heartbreaking catchiness of Fairytale of New York. Though recognisable, all of tonight’s set-list will be re-imagined, their harmony, grooves and intentions expanded, or indeed subverted, whatever it takes to create an evening of fun and surprises for all.
Improvisation will underscore the entire proceedings, spearheaded by the incredible inventiveness of special guest Julian Siegel, who will add even more magic to the mix.
