The RNCM Session Orchestra is a microcosm of what goes on here at the College. You can hear brilliant new arrangements that utilise a large number of musicians and singers, so it gives songs that were originally written and arranged for say a 4/5-piece band a whole new lease of life. This is also the first time that you’ll be able to hear original music by RNCM Popular Music students, including artists currently signed to Northern Quarter Records.

I came to the Session Orchestra with my daughter and her daughter and we were totally blown away by the strength, confidence and professional skills of all the performers… We loved the arrangements, again by students, and were thrilled by the voices of the soloists, if you closed your eyes, Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin were in the room! We can’t wait to see them again. In fact, having seen this show, my grand-daughter is seriously considering a change in her future career plans’.
