RNCM String Orchestra: Bach and Dvořák – RNCM Strings Day
Saturday 13 January 2024, 3.30pm
RNCM Concert Hall
RNCM Strings Day celebrates the sheer versatility, beauty, and brilliance of string playing across a range of concerts and programmes. Our students, staff, and guest artists perform side-by-side, captivating listeners with their expressive playing and embodying learning at its highest level. View the full line-up.
Our cross-year group ensemble is led by Professor in Violin Pavel Fischer, an internationally renowned tutor and chamber musician. Full of character and expressive intensity, Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins in D is the only work he wrote for double violin. We showcase several of our students as they pass the solos between one another in the intricate musical interplay.
A mellow opening then unfolds into a sunny serenade. The perfect complement to Bach, our students deliver a spellbinding performance of Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings in E major Op 22 to round off the day’s first event.
