To mark what would have been the 20th edition of RNCM Saxophone Day, we present a digital edition looking back at past guest artists, some of our incredible saxophone alumni, and an exclusive performance from the Apollo Saxophone Quartet.

This hour-long event, hosted by artistic directors Rob Buckland and Andy Scott, will celebrate the history of the RNCM Saxophone Day and of all the artists and alumni who have made the event such a highlight in the annual calendar for our loyal supporters.

Whilst we are unable to welcome audiences to the building at the moment, we are delighted that the Apollo Saxophone Quartet will be presenting a performance streamed from the RNCM Concert Hall, featuring world premières from two composers with ties to the RNCM – Larry Goves and Steve Whibley – alongside music written for the group by Graham Fitkin and Keith Tippett.

Our online event will also feature performances and messages from our fantastic alumni, including Emma McPhilemy, Jenni Watson, Simon Willescroft, Gilly Blair, Amy Roberts, Anthony Brown and Alastair Penman, to name but a few.

At the end of the event, join the saxophone community live on Zoom in an informal Q&A session hosted by RNCM Saxophone Day artistic directors Rob Buckland and Andy Scott, with special guests.

We’re very grateful to our headline sponsors, Henri Selmer Paris, Légère Reeds, Vandoren and Yamaha, as well as Astute Music, C D Wiggins Sheet Music, D’Addario, Howarth of London and Steve Crow Sax Repairs, for their support of this event.
