About
Acclaimed for his stellar stage presence and joyous musicianship, cellist Sterling Elliott may still be in his mid-20s, but he has already collaborated with many of the world’s leading orchestras and appeared in renowned concert halls across the globe.
This intimate chamber recital showcases his strikingly mature interpretations, combining technical brilliance with a rich and natural lyricism.
His accolades are many – among them an Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2021 and first prize in the Senior Division of the 2019 National Sphinx Competition. Sterling joined YCAT in 2023 as the YCAT– Music Masters Robey Artist, and in 2024 was named a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist (2024–26). His appearance at RNCM is presented in partnership with BBC Radio 3’s New Generation Artists scheme, through which RNCM and BBC Radio 3 collaborate to showcase exceptional emerging talent.
‘Sterling Elliott has the press nomenclature (as a 2021 Avery Fisher Grant winner) of being a rising star, however, that is not correct: he is a star cellist who has risen beyond hopeful promise to astonishing maturity. If you see his name on an upcoming venue, take the leap, and hear what he is up to, no matter what the program offers.’ — The Millbrook Independent
