About Cameron
A former Royal Philharmonic Society composer, Cameron’s music has been described as ‘sleekly shimmering’ (Gramophone) and a composer of ‘clear architecture, invention and control’ (Thoroughly Good), Cameron Biles-Liddell is a celebrated composer based in north Wales who places story-telling at the heart of his music.
Cameron’s music frequently takes inspiration from his home of North Wales, local folklore and landmarks across the UK. From depicting industrial zones in a concerto for Alis Huws (harp) and BBC National Orchestra of Wales, to setting Scottish poetry of shorelines in The Breakers for a debut disc by Beth Taylor and Hamish Brown, narrative and place are intwined with his musical world. Many of his works have gone on to receive repeat performances at prestigious venues like Wigmore Hall and Edinburgh International Festival, with a recent release with Quartet Draig on the Tŷ Cerdd record label.
As part of the 25-26 season, Cameron is working with Beth Taylor on a symphonic orchestral song cycle for a Scottish tour, while collaborating with the Edinburgh Quartet and Fenella Humphreys on new chamber works.
