Young Lower Brass

Workshops for tuba players aged 8 – 18 with at least one year of playing experience, led by RNCM tutors.

What is the RNCM Lower Brass?

RNCM Young Lower Brass is a series of free workshops on lower brass playing led by RNCM tutors. It is a chance to meet other players and receive expert tuition and advice on all aspects of lower brass playing in a relaxed atmosphere. The sessions will be participatory so expect plenty of playing.

What happens during the workshops?

Players will participate in sessions on breathing, warm ups, solo playing and have the opportunity to play in small ensembles. The tutors will take participants through the fundamentals of playing all the way to extended techniques. There will also be time to ask questions specific to your own playing.

Who can take part?

Anyone aged 8 – 18 with at least one year of playing experience.

How can I find out more?

This year, Young Tubas and Middle Brass will be combining to form Young Lower Brass. This will give participants the opportunities to experience playing as a section like they will in a Brass Band while still getting time to play with a community of players as their individual instruments too.
