RNCM ensembles win Tunnell Trust Awards

Congratulations to The Freeman Quartet and the Kwon/Lim Duo on receiving 2021/22 Tunnell Trust Awards.

The Freeman Quartet (violinists Xander Croft and Pijus Jonusas, violist Chance Freeman, and cellist Felix Hughes) recently joined the RNCM’s String Quartet Studio, while cellist Waynne Kwon and pianist Victor Lim are studying for Postgraduate Diplomas in Advanced Studies.

Following auditions at the Warehouse in London last week, both ensembles now have the opportunity to perform as part of a concert tour of Scotland during the 2021/22 season.

The John Tunnell Trust was formed in 1988 by family members, colleagues and friends of the late John Tunnell, OBE, founder leader of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Since then the Trust has assisted young professional chamber music ensembles and Scottish Music Clubs by running its Music Club Awards Scheme whereby the Trust pays the fees of outstanding young groups to play at music venues all over Scotland with an emphasis on helping those in small and remote places as well as in the major centres.
