Young Monarch, a six-piece line-up comprising second year BMus Popular Music students Rebecca Lewis (vocals), Hannah Rose (keyboards), Rhys Jiang (guitar), Matt Sanderson (drums), Chris Rabbitts (bass guitar/sax) and Dann Addison (bass guitar/violin), were selected to perform at FabCity and Vondelpark at the invitation of Europe by People, the official cultural programme for the Netherlands Presidency of the European Union 2016.

Andy Stott, Head of Popular Music at the RNCM, said: I was delighted to receive the invitation from Europe by People to take an RNCM band to perform in Amsterdam. I have been working closely over the last year with colleagues at the Conservatorium and the Popakademie to bring our students together and was suitably impressed by the high quality of the music and performances by all three of the bands who took part. It was also pleasing to see all of the students enjoying each other’s music and company – a valuable development of their international professional networks.’
