Soprano reaches final of prestigious competition

Recent graduate Eliza Boom is one of six singers to reach the final of this year’s Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Award.

Open to singers from Australia and New Zealand aged between 20 and 30, the prestigious competition has a total prize pool of $95,000, including the top $30,000 award and trophy.

The final will take place in Sydney in September when Eliza, pictured above in RNCM Opera’s Hansel and Gretel, hopes to emulate last summer’s competition success, which saw the soprano win New Zealand’s $20,000 Lexus Song Quest.
