About
Calling all saxophonists!
The UK’s biggest annual sax gathering returns, and in its 25th anniversary year, the festival is headlined by one of the most influential figures in jazz and classical saxophone today: Branford Marsalis.
Whether you’re a student, teacher, seasoned player, or just sax-curious, join us for a high-energy, hands-on day packed with workshops, concerts and performances for all ages and abilities, curated under the artistic direction of Andy Scott, RNCM Professor of Saxophone. Expect a vibrant mix of inspiration and participation, from massed ensembles to world-class artistry.
We are honoured to welcome Branford Marsalis, the legendary saxophonist whose career spans jazz, classical, and beyond. A three-time GRAMMY Award winner and trailblazing force in contemporary music, Marsalis brings his distinctive voice to the UK in a rare Manchester appearance performing in two standout concerts:
Marsalis–McAllister–Ames Trio: A marvellous programme for two saxophones and piano, featuring Branford Marsalis alongside acclaimed saxophonist Tim McAllister and renowned collaborative pianist Liz Ames. Together, they explore the beauty and elegance of a chamber collaboration.
Branford Marsalis and Julian Joseph: Two friends and musicians come together on one stage – spontaneous, virtuosic, and fuelled by fearless expression.
You’ll also get to catch a special spotlight performance from Saxophone Orchestra Manchester. As always, the day features our legendary Massed Saxophone Orchestra, an expansive trade exhibition, and plenty of chances to play, listen, and connect with fellow sax enthusiasts.
So what are you waiting for?
