Make an Application

The specialised training we offer means that securing a place at the RNCM is highly competitive, so it’s important that you understand the necessary entrance requirements and application process in advance.

In brief, all applicants must be over 18 years old by 31 December in the year of entry, demonstrate a high level of performing/composition ability at audition, and meet the minimum academic standards and English Language requirement for the course of choice. For guidance, undergraduate applicants are expected to be of at least Grade 8 standard in their Principal Study instrument, with at least Grade 5 knowledge of music theory.

The application process incorporates a number of stages, outlined in detail within this section.

2025 Entry

Applications for 2025 entry opened on 10 July and closed on 2 October 2024. We are still accepting late applications for most courses (excluding GRNCM), and you can contact us by emailing [email protected] for more information.

All applicants must apply via UCAS Conservatoires, followed by an Acceptd submission. Please check the audition requirements for your instrument and course before submitting your Acceptd application.

Please note that we must receive both your UCAS Conservatoires and Acceptd applications before we can review your application.

Conducting applicants should submit their Acceptd portfolio by Friday 8 November.
