Make an Application
The specialised training we offer means that securing a place at the RNCM is highly competitive, so it’s important that you understand the necessary entrance requirements and application process in advance.
In brief, all applicants must be over 18 years old by 31 December in the year of entry, demonstrate a high level of performing/composition ability at audition, and meet the minimum academic standards and English Language requirement for the course of choice. For guidance, undergraduate applicants are expected to be of at least Grade 8 standard in their Principal Study instrument, with at least Grade 5 knowledge of music theory.
The application process incorporates a number of stages, outlined in detail within this section.
The application deadline for 2021 entry was 1 October 2020 and the review period for on-time applicants has now taken place. Late applications may be considered, subject to availability, up to 6pm on Saturday 28 August. Due to the volume of on-time applications received, we are currently unable to accept late applications for undergraduate and postgraduate sopranos.
Please note that due to ongoing restrictions associated with Covid-19 auditions for 2021 are by recording in the first instance. All dates and deadlines remain unchanged.
Applications for 2022 entry are now open via UCAS Conservatoires, and the deadline to submit on time is 1 October 2021.
The audition process for this year will be a two-stage process with online and in-person options. Please click here to learn more.
