About
We’re thrilled to announce our second Community Opera production. Working with the eminent composer and conductor Kate Pearson and celebrated director Jonathan Ainscough, our 50-strong Community Chorus has written a brand-new opera to perform alongside our students and local community organisations.
This year’s production is a tale of loss, magic, and the destructive power of nature and human relationships inspired by the history of Manchester’s lost waterways. The Water Mark follows the story of a troubled young woman who discovers that cleaning up a local river – and the historical people and stories from the city’s past she encounters along the way (including the legendary Suffragettes) – is the key that unlocks her writer’s block.
