RNCM Young Basses

Workshops for double bass players aged 8 – 18 with at least one year of playing experience, featuring sessions on jazz, orchestral and ensemble playing.

Young projects students play basses.

What is RNCM Young Basses?

RNCM Young Basses is a series of free workshops on double bass playing. This is an exciting opportunity for young players of school age to develop creative, musical and technical skills through workshops held at the RNCM. Led by our experienced RNCM tutors, these workshops offer a chance to meet other players and receive expert tuition and advice on all aspects of playing.

What happens during the workshop?

There will be sessions on orchestral, jazz and solo playing plus chamber groups of various sizes. Past sessions have included meeting double bass makers, hearing ensembles from the RNCM perform and trying out a variety of bass instruments including Baroque basses and bass guitars. The sessions will be participatory so expect plenty of playing.

Who can take part?

Anyone aged 8 – 18 with at least one year of playing experience.

RNCM Young Projects are completely free to attend, for all young players of school age (whether a beginner or more experienced) and there is no selection process – there will be something for everyone!
