Young Lower Brass

Workshops for lower brass players (including tuba, euphonium, baritone, tenor horn and flugelhorn) aged 8 – 18 with at least one year of playing experience.

Young projects students play tubas.

What is the RNCM Lower Brass?

RNCM Young Lower Brass is a series of free workshops on lower brass playing. This is an exciting opportunity for young players of school age to develop creative, musical and technical skills through workshops held at the RNCM. Led by our experienced RNCM tutors, these workshops offer a chance to meet other players and receive expert tuition and advice on all aspects of playing.

What happens during the workshops?

Players will participate in sessions on breathing, warm-ups, solo playing and brass band ensemble playing. The tutors will take participants through the fundamentals of playing all the way to extended techniques. There will also be time to ask questions specific to your own playing. The sessions will be participatory so expect plenty of playing.

Who can take part?

Anyone aged 8 – 18 with at least one year of playing experience.

RNCM Young Projects are completely free to attend, for all young players of school age (whether a beginner or more experienced) and there is no selection process – there will be something for everyone!
