Le Yu is World Percussion Group’s 2016 Soloist

RNCM alumnus Le Yu has been chosen as the soloist for the World Percussion Group’s 2016 tour.

Established in 2014 by leading percussion duo Maraca2, the Group features some of the world’s top young percussionists who each undergo an audition process. This year, 18 musicians from 13 countries were selected from hundreds of applications, with Le Yu taking the position of soloist for the forthcoming America tour.

He said: ‘The World Percussion Group creates an amazing opportunity for percussion talent globally and I can’t wait to meet everyone. All the musicians represent different cultures and backgrounds, and it’s really exciting to think about performing together.’

Inspiring audiences and university students through presentations, clinics, lessons, performances and masterclasses, the World Percussion Group offers an international platform for some of the best young percussionists in the world to showcase and share their talent.

As soloist Le Yu, who recently received an Exceptional Talent Visa (endorsed by Arts Council England) to stay in the UK, will give a series of solo recitals, concerto performances, masterclasses and lessons throughout America between March and April.
