Andrea Oliva appointed International Visiting Tutor in Flute
We’re delighted to announce that Andrea Oliva will join us in September as International Visiting Tutor in Flute.
Recognised as one of the leading flautists of his generation, Andrea is Principal Flute with the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and a Professor of Flute at the University of Music at the Italian Switzerland Conservatory of Lugano. He performs regularly as a soloist worldwide, and has collaborated extensively with the Mozart Orchestra in Bologna under Claudio Abbado, Bayerische Rundfunk in Munich, Bamberger Symphoniker, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra of Europe.
Kevin Gowland, Deputy Head of the School of Wind, Brass and Percussion and Director of Woodwind at the RNCM, said: ‘I am very excited that Andrea will be joining the team of flute tutors at the RNCM. As International Visiting Tutor, he will work directly with every flute student throughout the year, delivering one-to-one tuition and masterclasses during each visit.’
Andrea added: ‘It’s an honour to be joining a great team at the RNCM. I’m looking forward to working with all the students and to developing the passion and hard work needed to have a brilliant career.’
Andrea replaces Anders Ljungar, who steps down after six years in post.
