Applications Open for 2021 RNCM JMIPC

The seventh RNCM James Mottram International Piano Competition (RNCM JMIPC) will be held at the Royal Northern College of Music between Monday 29 November – Sunday 5 December.

This major biennial event offers an all-round learning experience for young pianists under 30 worldwide, with a first-place prize of £10,000. Travel bursaries are available to shortlisted participants who live outside of Europe.

JMIPC 2021

For 2021, finalists will be accompanied by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Joshua Weilerstein in concerto performances in the RNCM Concert Hall.

The RNCM JMIPC has been made possible through a bequest from the late James Mottram with a specific instruction ‘to encourage and reward skill in performing at the keyboard the music of Domenico Scarlatti, Chopin and Debussy’.

All participants will receive invaluable learning opportunities, with those who don’t progress to the next stage gaining the chance to take part in a public masterclass given by a jury member during their time in Manchester. This year’s jury comprises Carlo Guaitoli (Italy), Piers Lane (Australia), Alexey Lebedev (Russia), Piotr Paleczny (Poland), Niklas Pokki (Finland), Rebecca Penneys (USA), Graham Scott (UK), and Uta Weyand (Germany).

Applications close on 27 September. Visit www.rncm.ac.uk/jmipc for further information and regulations.
