RNCM enhances partnership with BBC Philharmonic

Building on a long-standing creative relationship with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the RNCM is proud to welcome the world-class ensemble to our conservatoire for a series of intimate, relaxed performances as part of our 2025/26 programme.

Delivering an up-close experience in our 600-seat Concert Hall, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra at the RNCM will see Orchestra Leader Zoë Beyers direct and perform Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings and Bartók’s Divertimento (Fri 5 Dec). Jonathan Cohen directs a baroque programme including performances of Bach’s Concerto for Oboe and Violin from Principal Oboe Jennifer Galloway and Zoë Beyers as soloists, alongside Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Trumpets from star brass players Tom Fountain and Gwyn Owen (Fri 30 Jan). The series ends on Fri 1 May as Chief Conductor John Storgårds and acclaimed pianist Tamara Stefanovich set Igor Stravinsky and John Adams in thrilling contrast.

The series complements the RNCM’s long-running Professional Experience Schemes (PES) with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. Each year, students are invited to work side-by-side with the broadcasting symphony orchestra, providing essential training, mentoring, and performance opportunities for the next generation of musicians. The Orchestra will again join us for the 2026 Strings Festival, and this June our International Artist Diploma (IAD) musicians and student conductors will perform with the Orchestra at their studio home at MediaCityUK, Salford – a significant milestone in their artistic journeys (Wed 18 Jun, Fri 20 Jun).

Tickets are available from rncm.ac.uk/whats-on.
