Vocal alumni join Pegasus Opera Mentoring Scheme at Glyndebourne

The RNCM is proud to celebrate the success of two recent alumni of our School of Vocal Studies and Opera (SVSO) who have secured places on the Pegasus Opera Mentoring Scheme at Glyndebourne.

Tenor Bradyn Debysingh, a postgraduate alumnus of the RNCM’s Advanced Studies in Performance programme, and mezzo-soprano Gabriela Comeau Gort, who completed her intensive MMus in Performance last year, are two of the four international finalists announced for 2026.

Bradyn is currently staring as Ubaldo Piangi in the West End’s The Phantom of the Opera, and his other credits include Don Curzio in Le nozze di Figaro (Garsington Opera), Mr Su in The Stone God (Arcadian Opera), and chorus for Aida and Der Fliegende Holländer (Lyric Opera of Chicago). He studied at the RNCM with Mark Wildman and came to the College from Oregon, US, after gaining degrees at both Northwestern University and Samford University.

Born in Canada, Gabriela studied with Mary Plazas and has performed extensively internationally, including in Canada, the UK, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Chile, and the US. Her notable opera performances include Hänsel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, Orphée in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, Ruggiero in Handel’s Alcina, and Rosina in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia.

Participants mentored at Glyndebourne are given the opportunity to observe rehearsals, shadow established artists at the Glyndebourne Festival, perform for key artistic staff with feedback, and gain valuable introductions to other departments at the opera house. They are also invited to attend Pegasus Opera auditions and emerging talent showcases, opening up access to performance roles and the celebrated Glyndebourne Chorus.

Now in its sixth year, the mentorship programme is open to aspiring and emerging global majority artists to support talent development and diversify representation on opera and theatre stages.
