- To provide an effective and efficient academic support service for the College’s research degree programme, the Programme Leader, PGR students, their supervisors and examiners.
- In liaison with the Head of Student Services create and maintain records for research degree students through accurate data entry onto the Students Records System, as well as to ensure the effective and efficient timetabling of activities.
- To ensure the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date research-degree programme information on the College’s Virtual Learning Environment (Moodle) and the College website.
- To act as the main point of contact for queries about the monitoring of progress and doctoral examination process from PGRs and their supervisors, external and internal examiners, and the Programme Leader.
- Responsible for administering the progress-monitoring and doctoral examination processes including the receipt and dispatch of theses and portfolios, examiners’ reports and awards including liaison with colleagues in Business Systems and Data Unit in preparation for the Board of Examiners.
- To administer the appointment and processing of payment of all examiners.
- To process the monitoring of PGRs’ progress (initial project review, first review and annual reviews of progress) and completion of required research and other training.
- To liaise with colleagues in Business Systems and Data Unit in the setting up of the curriculum on the student records system and in preparation of data for the Boards of Examiners.
- To communicate agreed outcomes of the Board of Examiners to students including the issue of letters, transcripts and certificates to students and coordinate arrangements for reassessments/deferrals.
- To provide advice and guidance to PGRs, supervisors and examiners regarding College regulations, policies and procedures in relation to the research degree programme.
- To deal with queries about results from external bodies, and to administer references for students in conjunction with programme leaders.
- To service College committee(s) as required.
- To provide advice, information and guidance to the Director of Research and Programme Leader for Research Degrees as required.
- To provide support to the Academic Registrar for the organisation of the College’s Congregation of awards.
- To provide support to the other members of the Academic Services office as required.
- To liaise with wider College teams and other support services as appropriate to meet the needs of students.
