Pedagogy
- Group sessions: running piano-specific pedagogy seminars on a variety of topics such as piano technique, sound production, creativity, sight-reading, improvisation, and general piano teaching.
- One-to-one: provide feedback and suggestions regarding pedagogical practice, methodologies and resources.
Supporting students throughout their teaching placement and helping them develop the skills needed for instrumental teaching, as well as helping them develop self-reflective and critical thinking essential for teaching at a professional level.
Greta Gasser is a Lecturer and Piano Mentor for the Practical Pedagogy MMus/MPerf program at the RNCM, as well as a Piano Tutor at the JRNCM. Greta is a trustee of EPTA UK (European Piano Teachers Association), where she contributes to efforts in shaping the future of piano education. Her involvement complements her work at the RNCM, where she mentors postgraduate students in developing their pedagogical skills.
Greta is also the founder and driving force behind Gasser Music Studio and her previous teaching roles included positions at Yorkshire Young Musicians and Manchester High School for Girls.
Beyond her teaching, Greta leads Asociația Culturală Gasser in Romania, an organization dedicated to providing educational and cultural opportunities to underprivileged communities while supporting local artists. Her past outreach work includes leading a local community choir and volunteering for impactful programs such as the Music for Health Scheme, RNCM Music in Hospitals, and the Olympias Music Foundation.
Greta holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) and a Master of Music (Distinction) from the RNCM, where she studied under Helen Krizos and Frank Wibaut. Her studies were generously supported by several scholarships, including the FW Wright Piano Scholarship, the Helen Rachael Mackaness Award, the George Stanger Music Trust, and the Prodan Romanian Cultural Foundation. Before arriving in the UK, she studied at a specialist music school in Romania from the age of 7 to 18, winning multiple competitions. Although she is now primarily focused on teaching, Greta has performed as a solo pianist both in the UK and abroad.
