Jonathan Musgrave
Creative Multi-Specialist
Jonni Musgrave studied Jazz Piano under Andy Hicky and John Ellis at Salford University before furthering his studies with Mark Levine (author of The Jazz Piano Book) in California.
His professional career began as keyboard player in the band The Funk Ambassadors, fronted by Haji Akbar (trumpet player for James Brown and Van Morrison), which led to a UK and Australian tour with hip- hop collective Ute. He was also a member of The Joe Hubbard Urban Ensemble alongside drummer Mark Mondesir and guitarist John Etheridge.
His recording highlights include Johnny Marr (as both a solo artist and with The Healers), Barclay James Harvest, Marcella Detroit (Shakespeare’s Sister), The Andy Schofield Group and The Ben Cox Band (as co- producer).
Jonni has been a Keyboard Tutor at the RNCM since 2016 and also teaches Piano and Advanced Session Musicianship Skills at The University of Salford.
