Mike Patrick
Visiting Professor
Born in Luton, UK, Mike Patrick’s musical journey first began on the electric organ his father brought for their home. Mike was always intrigued by the different sounds the organ could produce and naturally took to keyboards and synths.
He later went on to study a BA in Music at Middlesex University which helped him hone his skill as a pianist as well as, influence his sound as a keyboardist. As Mike’s university journey came to an end, his love for the piano became a central passion not to mention, his curiosity of sounds and synthesis.
It wasn’t long before Mike found himself experimenting with different sounds and effects. This allowed him to create his own unique feel and approach to different genres and styles. He learnt that through careful listening and practice, he could articulate many organic instruments on a keyboard with great authenticity.
Mike Patrick enjoys music production but is also known as a sound designer. Being the first British musician to create a sound bank for the renowned Swedish keyboard company ‘Nord’, he is well respected for his knowledge of keyboards and programming.
Due to Mike’s unique ability to adapt to different music genres, he’s become a sought after session musician and regularly tours with Jake Bugg, Mike Skinner, JP Cooper and James Arthur. His mature approach to music makes him a ‘young man’ with an ‘old soul’.
In 2019, Mike joined SoundWave Studios as a Film Composer. Like many composers, Mike has an array of styles at his fingertips. However, what sets Mike Patrick apart is his attention to detail as well as his ability to tug at a listeners heart through strong, ‘memorable’ melodies and sensitive, expressive transitions. With over 15 years of viable experience as a pianist/keyboardist/arranger, Mike’s music is guaranteed to always be something special.
