Nicki’s career portfolio combines teaching, songwriting, session work and performing, and has taken her all over the world as a Professional vocalist and pianist. Credits include Glastonbury, the 02 Academy Leeds and many leading UK Jazz Festivals and theatres. She has performed on television and radio and was also awarded the coveted title of Jazz Yorkshire Vocalist of the year in 2010 for her contribution to Jazz.
Nicki’s Jazz Sextet ensemble have releases with London based record label 33Jazz records, she is a successful Big Band vocalist as well as running 2 Jazz quartets and working as a Jazz piano vocalist. Nicki is also an accomplished song writer with PRS writing credits and recordings.
As a session musician and vocalist her portfolio work includes commissions for major label Sony, independent record labels, and other commercial and independant projects. She works regularly for a production team who write shows and provide music and BV’s for the entire Cunard and P & O fleet. Nicki manages a freelance backing vocalist team called ‘The Northern Power House Singers’ who provide multi-style vocals and fast sight- reading for high end production work.
During Summer break Nicki runs the Jazz Leeds Community Choir and also an annual festival event called ‘Jazz on a Summer’s day’ – showcasing a day of regional and local Jazz artists.
Nicki has been a leading vocal coach and conservatoire singing tutor for a number of years. Formerly teaching at Leeds College of Music as principle study vocal tutor, ensemble co-ordinator and director of the Gospel Choir. Nicki Joined the RNCM in 2010 as one of the original vocal team on the Popular Music BMus and is currently principle study co-ordinator and tutor for the vocal module years 1 and 2.
