Rachel is a Lecturer in Music, with particular specialisms in historical musicology, nineteenth- and twentieth-century music (particularly British music and culture), and military music. Rachel’s PhD, titled ‘Musical Networks in early Victorian Manchester’, was awarded by the RNCM in 2021. Rachel has an MMus in flute performance and continues to work as a professional flautist alongside her academic roles.
