Born in Aberdeen, Robin studied at the University of Aberdeen and the Royal Academy of Music. He has been Principal Tuba of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra since 1996, appearing as a soloist on a number of occasions. In October 2015 he gave the world premiere of Robin Holloway’s Europa and the Bull with the RLPO and conductor Andrew Manze. Robin was a member of the Wallace Collection brass ensemble from 1993-2000, undertaking a wide variety of projects ranging from concerts and masterclasses in Australia to workshops in villages in Sierra Leone. He has appeared as a guest player with many orchestras throughout the UK and abroad including the Philharmonia, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Mozart (Bologna) and the Berliner Philharmoniker. From 2003-2008 he was the tuba player with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra.
