Stafford born Yvonne studied at the RNCM under David Johnston and Joseph Ward and has since gone on to enjoy an International career that has taken her to the USA, Japan, China, the Middle East, Argentina, Brazil, and all over Europe and well as the all over the UK. Since making her debut at Glyndebourne, she has appeared regularly at ROH, Covent Garden; ENO, Opera North; Scottish Opera, Opera Holland Park and Garsington, where her wide vocal range has seen her sing diverse characters from the title rôles of Norma & Fidelio, Cornelia in Giulio Cesare, Berta in Barber of Seville, Fricka, Waltraute and Sieglinde in Wagner’s Ring Cycle, Caesonia in Caligula, and Aunt Nettie in Carousel.

On the concert platform, Yvonne has given recitals and oratorio performances in, among other places, London’s Wigmore, QEH and Festival Halls, the Bridgewater and Birmingham Symphony Halls, New York, Paris and Tokyo, working with conductors such as Sir Bernard Haitink, Sir Mark Elder, Edo de Wart, Sir Anthony Papano, Richard Farnes and Zubin Mehta. Among the highlights of Yvonne’s career, taking part in the award winning film of John Adams opera “The Death of Klinghoffer’ for Chanel 4 in the rôle of Marilyn Klinghoffer, for which she was nominated for a best actress award is high on her list as was being hailed as ‘ surely one of the finest singing actresses of her generation’ .

Her many recordings include the Hallé’s Ring Cycle, Troilus and Cressida, Saint of Bleecker Street, Chamber Music recitals with the English Piano Trio and Beastly Tales ( by Roxanna Panufnik) with the CLS. Yvonne has always enjoyed working with young people in outreach and community work and since 2015 has been a Professor of Singing at the Royal Academy of Music, in London. She is now very happy being back at her Alma Mater.
