Name: Tom Redmond
Role: Joint Principal of Chetham’s School of Music, Alumnus
About: Tom enjoyed a 13-year orchestral career with the Hallé before turning his attention to broadcasting and music education. A former Junior RNCM Tutor in French Horn, he’s been a regular voice on BBC Radio 3 since 2011 and works with many of the UK’s orchestras on their education and family programmes. In 2019 he was appointed Director of Music at Chetham’s School of Music before taking up the position of Joint Principal with Nicola Smith in 2020.
Did you know? Alongside his work with the Hallé, Tom has performed throughout Europe, Japan, Russia, South East Asia and USA with ensembles including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia and London Symphony Orchestra.
